The very first Ryzen 6000 processor! Evaluation of the ASUS ROG Phantom 14 2022

Ryzen 6000! ASUS ROG Phantom 14 2022

The Vega 8 GPU on the 2018 Ryzen 7 2700H notebook outperforms Intel’s UHD Graphics by a factor of several, and its performance was only surpassed last year by Intel’s new design Iris Xe.

AMD launched the new Ryzen 6000 series processors in February 2022. The Radeon RX 600M series of built-in graphics cards with the RDNA 2 architecture were employed for the first time in many years. The number of stream processors increased to a maximum of 768 at the same time.

According to AMD, the AMD Radeon 680M GPU’s theoretical performance using the RNDA2 architecture is 2 times that of Vega 8, and the gaming experience is superior to entry-level independent graphics.

The upgrade of Ryzen 6000 series mobile CPUs is extensive as compared to the previous generation of Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors.

Of course, the Ryzen 6000 series mobile processors’ upgrading isn’t restricted to the RDNA 2 integrated graphics card. It has also improved its process technology to TSMC 6nm. The Zen3+ design allows the CPU to run at lower voltage and power. It can also boost the processor’s single-core and multi-core performance by 10-30% while consuming the same amount of power.

1. PCIe 4.0 support

When fitted with top-level independent graphics, the earlier Ryzen mobile processors can only handle PCIe 3.0 x8, and there will be some performance loss. The bandwidth of the Ryzen 6000H mobile processor is doubled after it is updated to PCIe 4.0, and the performance of high-end graphics cards is no longer limited.

2. Acceleration frequency of up to 5.0GHz

The maximum acceleration frequency of the Ryzen 6000 mobile processor has reached 5.0GHz for the first time, thanks to TSMC’s 6nm process technology and Zen3+ architecture. As a result, single-core and multi-core performance will be greatly increased.

3. Memory DDR5

DDR4 memory is no longer supported by Ryzen 6000 series mobile processors. The advantages of adopting DDR5 memory are self-evident.

The first is to boost the built-in graphics card’s performance to the point where it can compete with regular games.

The ASUS ROG Magic 14 2022 notebook that we tested is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor and AMD’s newest RX 6800S discrete graphics card.
